The participants engage others by posting their comments and links to the stories which may bring other readers and non-readers in the participants network to forbes.com articles, increasing reach, readership and brand awareness.
Basic Overview:
Trading in the stock market is all about the numbers, and who doesn't like winning? This contest engages forbes.com readers and non-readers to gain points for posting stories daily, increasing the reach of social referrals. Prizes awarded monthly. A current winner board may be displayed on the main page of forbes.com.
Presuming that forbes.com utilizes bit.ly or has their own URL shortening.
1. Points: Assign a system of points to stories in descending order.
a. New stories posted within 24hrs get 25pts. For each consecutive business day subtract 5pts. A day old story for example would get 20pts., two days 15pts. three 10pts. and so on.
b. Weekend posting would be worth 15pts. and are only valid if posted within a week.
c. RT's (retweet's) are not counted.
2. Format or Tweets: tweets must include: the bit.ly link to the article, AND the hashtag #forbesmrkt (or TBD) but SHOULD NOT USE the Generated article titles that may come from RSS feeds and will result in points not being awarded for the post. This is to encourage an opinion, comment and conversation about the article, the point is to engage while broadcasting rather than just broadcasting.
This could be carried on to other social media platforms as well but tracking might become an issue. Since bit.ly and other services like it count the number of URL post and display a list of the tweets that include the bit.ly URL you could easily count them or create something to parse the data and count for you, but maybe that's more than your willing to do?
